Precision Forming Technology
Calibration machines are used for the precise forming of metal shells in the exhaust gas industry. Together with the bearing mat and the substrate (monolith), the metal shells form the assembly of a catalyst or diesel particulate filter, also known as so-called cannings. The components can either be positioned in the shell during the calibration process or inserted after forming.
The calibration machines can be integrated into both automated robotic cells and manual production lines. By changing the calibration tools, different shell sizes can be produced flexibly. The forming technology is designed for round and oval metal shells and allows the production of single- or double-seat cannings.
In addition, we offer the individual design, engineering, and construction of customer-specific calibration machines, precisely tailored to your technical requirements and production processes.
Customized Solutions for Maximum Efficiency
In a time when standard solutions often reach their limits, we develop systems and special-purpose machines that are precisely tailored to our customers’ requirements. Our goal is to transform technical challenges into high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective systems.
Whether it’s a complex production line, an automated custom solution, or a precision single machine, we design systems that perfectly match your processes. Together, we create systems that perform today and endure tomorrow.
Semi-automatic canning line
In this compact production cell, so-called cannings can be manufactured.
Cannings are exhaust filter systems used for emission control. A canning consists of a formed metal shell, compression mats, and ceramic inserts.
The line comprises a calibration machine, a stuffing unit, two engraving or pinning stations, an XYZ gantry robot, an optical inspection unit, and a finished parts conveyor.
All drives are powered electrically or pneumatically.
Calibration machine/Shrinker Typ K3440-A-S7
This calibration machine is used for forming metal tubes or shells within an automated production cell with robotic loading. By using different tool sets, shells can be formed into round, oval, tri-oval, square, or rectangular shapes.
The machine consists of a forming unit, an ejector/positioning unit, and a hold-down device. All motorized axes are equipped with servo drives. High acceleration and axis speeds enable short cycle times.
With a maximum drum depth of 600 mm and a maximum calibration jaw length of 440 mm (standard), even complex components can be formed.
Calibration machine/Shrinker Typ K3270-M-S2E
This calibration machine is used for forming metal tubes or shells in an automated production cell with manual loading.
With a maximum drum depth of 420 mm and a maximum calibration jaw length of 270 mm (standard), a variety of components can be formed.
Double calibration machine/Shrinker Typ K3270-A-S2
This calibration machine is used for forming metal tubes or shells. By using different tool sets, shells can be formed into round, oval, tri-oval, square, or rectangular shapes. Each unit consists of a forming unit, an ejector/positioning unit, and a hold-down device.
All motorized axes are equipped with servo drives. High acceleration and axis speeds enable short cycle times.
By using two forming units, very complex components can be formed.
